This session will focus on global, national and regional economic dynamics that ultimately shape visitation to Orlando. Data regarding labor markets, financial markets, demographics and consumer spending patterns will be supplied. The session will conclude with economic forecasts for the balance of 2017 and beyond.

Anirban Basu is Chairman & CEO of Sage Policy Group, Inc., an economic and policy consulting firm in Baltimore, Maryland that provides strategic analytical services to energy suppliers, law firms, medical systems, government agencies, and real estate developers among others. He currently serves as the Chairman of both the Maryland Economic Development Commission and the Baltimore County Economic Advisory Committee and as the economic advisor to the Baltimore-Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Basu is an alumnus of Georgetown University, Harvard University and the University of Maryland, where he earned a Master's in Economics and his Juris Doctor. He currently lectures at Johns Hopkins University in Global Strategy.

Gain perspective on the current state of domestic and international travel and tourism here in Orlando and look at the trends for 2018. This presentation will cover the latest market indicators, socio-economic trends impacting both leisure travel and the meetings industry, as well as the outlook for Orlando's key origin market.

Daryl Cronk is the Senior Director of Market Research & Insights at Visit Orlando. Daryl overseas all functions of Visit Orlando's research department including primary and secondary research programs, internal performance measurements, and strategic planning. Daryl started with Visit Orlando in 1999 as a Research Analyst, and has been Director since 2008. Prior to moving to Orlando, Daryl was an Economist in the Statistics of Income Division of the U.S. Treasury Department in Washington, DC. He also spent 5 years as an Adjunct Professor of Economics at the Orlando campus of Nova Southeastern University. Daryl has a Bachelor's Degree in Finance from James Madison University in Virginia, and a Masters of Arts in Applied Economics from the University of Central Florida.
